Mercedes Mone is set for her Winner Takes All match at Forbidden Door. The TBS Champion will face Stephanie Vaquer, the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion.

While that match happens this Sunday, The CEO has been busy on the podcast circuit. She recently appeared on the WFAN podcast and spoke about her relationship with the former CEO and Chairman of WWE, Vince McMahon. Mone was signed with WWE, from 2012 to 2022.

“I had a great relationship with him. Me and Bayley took over the pandemic era, and it felt like the relationship really, really grew, that he knew he could count on us and trust us. So much so he gave us the opportunity to main event WrestleMania 37, which was one of my biggest, biggest dreams, so big, that I didn’t even think that was possible at all.” [15:48 – 16:11]

Mercedes Mone fka Sasha Banks started a feud with Bayley in NXT in 2013 and became tag team partners ‘Boss ‘n’ Hug connection’ in WWE. Bayley and Mone became the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Champions in 2018. Mercedes Mone had a feud with Bayley in WWE too, which included a Hell in a Cell Match at the namesake pay-per-view in 2020.

During the Pandemic, WWE, like any spectator sports company, had to undertake special actions to ensure that they produce and broadcast their shows, like creating the Thunderdome.

Mone faced Bianca Belair in the main event of Night One of WrestleMania 37, which was only the second time women headlined WrestleMania and the first time two African-American women did so.

Mercedes Mone makes a surprise appearance on CMLL before her match with Stephanie Vaquer at Forbidden Door 2024

Mone seems excited about her Winner Takes All match with Stephanie Vaquer at Forbidden Door. Before the two can meet in the ring, Mone appeared on CMLL, to confront the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion. Later, she posted a photo of herself in the CMLL ring with just two words.

Mercedes Mone has had a great time in AEW since her debut in the wrestling promotion this year. Rumors suggest her contract with Tony Khan makes her the highest-paid female professional wrestler. After her AEW debut, within a short span, she wrenched the TBS Championship from Willow Nightingale at Double or Nothing 2024. Since then, she has defended the title from Skye Blue and Zeuxis.

It remains to be seen if the former WWE Women’s SmackDown Champion will have the same good going at Forbidden Door 2024 and beyond.
