The YouTube sensation-turned-boxer Logan Paul has again stirred up controversy. This time, he’s claiming victory over one of boxing’s greatest champions, Floyd Mayweather. The unlikely match-up took place in June 2021. It was an exhibition bout that pitted the undefeated Mayweather against the social media star. Many boxing purists scoffed at the idea. But millions tuned in, making it a financial success.

Now, over three years later, Paul is doubling down on his performance. He insists he’s the true winner of the fight. His reasoning at that time was that Mayweather didn’t knock him out as promised, and probably that still stands. He posted a picture of himself on X and Mayweather with the caption: “Only person to beat Floyd Mayweather.”

The bout itself was a peculiar spectacle. Mayweather, 44 at the time, danced around the much larger Paul. He landed crisp shots but never seemed to hurt his inexperienced opponent. Paul, for his part, looked awkward but game. He even landed a few punches of his own.

No official winner was declared, as is typical for exhibition matches. This hasn’t stopped Paul from rewriting the narrative. He’s been vocal about his perceived victory, much to the amusement or annoyance of boxing fans.
