Indiana Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark had a priceless reaction after air-balling a three-point attempt in Sunday’s road game against the Phoenix Mercury.
Caitlin Clark made a slick ankle-breaking move on a Phoenix defender to get herself open for a three-pointer. Clark has made countless shots from downtown, but this all-day-to-shoot attempt resulted in an air ball.
Yet, that wasn’t even the funniest part of the clip. Check out Clark’s timeless reaction to the air ball as she managed to crack a smile with her teammates:
At any rate, Clark’s miss didn’t affect the game’s outcome whatsoever. The Fever outlasted the Mercury 88-82 to improve 8-12 on the year, with Clark tallying 15 points, nine rebounds and 12 assists.
If there was one struggle in Caitlin Clark’s game against the Mercury on Sunday, it was the three-pointer (2-for-10 on the day). Then again both teams struggled from downtown as they each went just 8-of-28.
The first overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft has lived up to the hype in the early going, averaging 16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game through her first 19 contests.

Caitlin Clark & Fever Are Surging With Momentum
After an ugly 1-8 start to the season, the Fever have caught fire and suddenly find themselves in the thick of the WNBA playoff race. Indiana has now won five of their last seven games, pushing them into the No. 8 seed following Chicago’s loss to Minnesota on Sunday.
The surging Fever are also just half a game behind the Atlanta Dream for the No. 7 seed, and two behind Phoenix for the sixth seed.
Clark and the Fever will conclude their five-game road trip with a Tuesday evening showdown against the defending champion Las Vegas Aces. After that, they’ll commence a three-game homestand against the New York Liberty on Saturday.
