In a chaotic episode, Mike was the latest baker to be eliminated from the competition.

After a difficult time during Caramel Week, the farmer fell at the final hurdle after his caramel cake was deemed closer to a tiramisu by the judges.

Inspired by his boyfriend’s favourite cinema and and the baking star’s favourite cocktail, Mike created a salted coffee caramel-inspired creation which saw several coffee-flavoured cake layers smeared with caramel mousse.

The stunning creation was topped with caramel popcorn shards but unfortunately Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith felt the whole concoction missed the mar.

Speaking to the camera after hearing the news of his eviction, the bakers said ti was his time to go.

He said: ‘I feel it was my time to go I’m just this little farmer who does baking in the kitchen.

‘The quality of what everyone else is doing is just breathtaking.’

He then told his fellow bakers he was going to miss them before admitting he didn’t think he’d ever want to bake again.

As he hugged his co-stars goodby he said: ‘The only thing my mum said was don’t cry!’

Paul revealed the difficult decision was a close one between Sumayah and Mike.

He said: ‘It was really close between Sumayah and Mike and Sumayah just pipped him on two of the challenges.

‘It’s a shame because he’s a great guy and I’m looking forward to visiting his farm shop.’

Georgie told the camera: ‘I’ve always been self conscious of my baking but I just need to get more confidence in myself.’

After receiving the good news she told hosts Alison Hammond and Neil that she needed to work on her confidence.

She said: ‘I’ve always been self conscious of my baking but I just need to get more confidence in myself.’

Mike’s departure from the show came at the end of a chaotic day in the Bake Off tent when host Noel Fielding accidentally smashed one of the bakers’ key ingredients with just fifteen minutes to go.

During the episode, the presenter 52, was messing around in the tent while the contestants worked on their Signature challenge.

He joked around by making a ball out of Nelly’s leftover biscuit dough and using her rolling pin as a bit, but panic ensued when he tried to hit the ball and instead knocked over her glass bowl of caramel, causing it to shatter on the floor.

Is this leftovers?’ Noel asked Nelly, before rolling the dough into a ball and exclaiming: ‘We can throw this at someone’.

Another contestant then held out his cap and challenged Noel to hit the ball into it, which he managed to do once.

However, on his second attempt, he sent the glass bowl of caramel flying, which left baker Nelly gasping.

‘You didn’t need that?’ the presenter asked, holding his hand over his mouth in shock.

‘Yes, I did,’ the baker responded, as Noel added: ‘Oh my God’ and other contestants put their hands to their heads.

Noel asked: ‘What are we going to do? Have we got time to make some more?’

Thankfully, Nelly confirmed that they did have time and speedily got to work on whipping up a new batch while Noel hoovered up the broken glass.

‘It’s all good,’ she joked, ‘If I’m gonna go home he will drive me home in a posh car.’
