What is at stake for Shields vs Lepage-Joanisse

Claressa Shields will enter the boxing ring in Detroit on Saturday looking to add to her very illustrious résumé.

Shields, already a champion in three other weight classes, is making the jump to the heavyweight division to try and take the heavyweight title from champion Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse (7-1, 2 KOs).

Because of the way women’s boxing is classified, what exactly is on the line can be a bit confusion, including to Shields herself. Lepage-Joanisse is the current WBC heavyweight champion, but the two boxers will also be fighting for the WBF heavyweight title and the WBO light heavyweight title.

Shields enters the fight with a perfect record of 14-0 and has had success in multiple different weight classes, but is making her biggest jump up yet on Saturday.
