Former boxing heavyweight champion Mike Tyson turned 58 on June 30th. Thousand of fans, family, and friends sent birthday wishes to the legendary boxer. Although ‘Iron Mike’ has become a more composed man as he aged, he used to make headlines during his heyday for living a luxurious life and throwing extravagant parties. On his birthday this year, his daughter Milan Tyson shared an Instagram story, with a photo of Tyson’s 23rd birthday bash.  

‘Extra’ is the word to describe Tyson’s way of living life when he was young- extra cars, extra bungalows, and extra paychecks for his anticipated fights during his prime. Milan posted a vintage picture that gives a sneak peek into the extravagant celebration of the famous boxer’s 23rd birthday. Safe to say, Mike really knew how to party!

In late June 1989, Tyson had arranged a limousine to drive him and his entourage, which included his promoter Don King, to the Philadelphia International Airport. But where were they heading? The entire ensemble was flying to Cleveland for Tyson’s 23rd birthday party. ‘Iron Mike’ took a few days off from training to celebrate his birthday ahead of his July 21st fight against Carl Williams at the Convention Center in Atlantic City.

A photo that Milan posted of the birthday celebration shows her father standing in front of a cake, about three feet tall, with a boxing ring on top of it. In the photo, Don King is also seen, standing just next to Tyson. His daughter shared the photo and wrote, “Ok he was always extra.”

The birthday celebration took place in Cleveland’s International Exposition Center. Rappers such as Run-D.M.C., Heavy D. and the Boyz, Jazzy Jeff, and the Fresh Prince were attendees at the party. Tyson was sporting his signature black shorts, black and white shirt, and, of course, bulky gold chains around his neck. Despite a spectacular birthday bash, Tyson floored Williams in just 93 seconds with a powerful left hook. That’s how the champ used to celebrate his birthday.

But his 58th birthday celebration has also sparked discussion among followers on social media. Not because the party was terrific, but rather because of something out of the ordinary that attendees observed.

Well, the most important thing for someone on their birthday is the presence of their loved ones. However, cakes are made to celebrate birthdays and auspicious occasions. The boxer put up a video on Instagram from his 58th birthday party, which he celebrated in a restaurant. He used to invite hundreds of people to parties. But this year’s birthday just had a limited audience. The former champ likes to keep it simple nowadays. Coming to the point, the video doesn’t have a cake for the birthday boy.

In the video, it is evident that while everyone is singing Tyson’s birthday song, all that is visible is a plate with the words “Happy Birthday” written on it in cream. His supporters were concerned about his well-being. There could be a medical problem. Perhaps he’s cutting back on sweets and desserts to prepare for his fight with Jake Paul in November. The precise cause is unknown to us, though.
