Despite $790 Million Combined Net Worth, LeBron James and Patrick Mahomes Snubbed to Give Floyd Mayweather the Ultimate ‘Money’ Crown-b

Floyd Mayweather might not be the richest athlete anymore, but American rapper Cam’ron says the former five-division champion is the champion of “my time is money.” And that’s snubbing LeBron James, who is worth $700 million, and Patrick Mahomes worth $90 million according to ‘Celebrity Net Worth’. When did this happen? How much is Mayweather worth?

Well, Cam’ron appeared in his Come and Talk 2 me podcast today, where he spoke highly to Ma$e (co-host) about Floyd Mayweather—who is worth approximately $400 million. The retired undefeated boxer appeared in several high-profile fights, which made him millions upon millions, but is he really worthy of the ultimate money crown Cam’ron gave him? Let’s find out!

Cam’ron claims Floyd Mayweather could make more in 30 minutes than Patrick Mahomes

Talking about the worth of an athlete’s time, the rapper held Mayweather as the ultimate champ, while comparing him to others, saying, “You could use LeBron James’ contract, you could put Patrick Mahomes’ contract, you could put whoever the highest paid athlete is…”, which includes all the games, practice sessions and also the injuries they may suffer in their contract with a team.

Cam’ron (full name Cameron Giles) went into details using Mahomes as an example, while highlighting his 10-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs worth “$500 million”, which is actually $450 million. The rapper claimed despite Mahomes’ huge deal, “[He] still won’t make what Floyd made for 30 minutes and that’s what you got to really think about is my time valuable to you.”

While Mayweather has had some big fights, he never made $450 million from one fight, but it did come close. When ‘Money’ took on Manny Pacquiao in May 2015, it turned out to be one of the most expensive fights ever recorded, with Mayweather walking out with $240 million. Not to forget, Mayweather’s clash with Conor McGregor when the legendary boxer made $280 million in just one night.

So, Cam’ron elaborated, saying, “We’re talking about somebody’s time. We’re talking about ‘my time is money’. Floyd Mayweather is the champion of my time is money.” Despite this, Floyd Mayweather doesn’t even crack the top ten highest-paid athletes list.

Who are Forbes’ top 10 highest-paid athletes?

The last time Floyd Mayweather appeared in Forbes’ top ten highest-paid athletes list was back in 2018. Before that, Mayweather appeared in the 2015, 2014, and the 2012 lists! Yes, he has retired from the sport, but he hasn’t stopped fighting, neither has he stopped making money. So, he should be up there, right?

Well, no! It turns out, Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr FC is at the top of the list with $260 million in total earnings. The second and third spots are taken up by Jon Rahm, a Spanish golfer, and Lionel Messi. On the fourth, LeBron James maintains his last year’s spot with $119.5 million in total earnings. Even the fifth spot is taken up by a basketball player, Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The rest of the list looks like this: Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, Karim Benzema, Stephen Curry, and Lamar Jackson. However, according to the 50 Highest-Paid Athletes of All-Time by Sportico, Floyd Mayweather ranks at the 10th spot with $1.48 billion in career earnings (inflation-adjusted).

With that said, Cam’ron wholeheartedly believes Floyd Mayweather is the champ in terms of the value of his time. And he is not exactly wrong since Mayweather does take home a substantial purse for one night compared to Mahomes’ and Lebron James’ contract payments that are paid out over several months and years. No wonder the man is nicknamed ‘Money’. So do you agree with Cam’ron?
