A musical titled “Hello, I’m Dolly” is officially coming to Broadway, and many want Miley Cyrus to star.

Calling all Dolly Parton fans — you’re going to want to book a trip to New York City after reading this news.

The music legend’s life has already been immortalized for the screen, thanks to the 2015 film Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors. But in a twist of events, beloved followers learned that Dolly’s life will be imagined for the stage in a brand-new musical hitting Broadway in 2026.

Titled Hello, I’m Dolly (named after her debut studio album that was released in 1967), the story will follow Dolly’s journey from childhood to the musical phenomenon she is today. What’s more, the Broadway show will feature classic songs and original tunes for everyone to sing along to when the time comes to see the musical on the Great White Way, per Time Out New York.

Shortly after the news broke, Dolly went on Instagram on June 6 to confirm the announcement. “Hello, I’m Dolly!” she proudly wrote. “I’ve been writing my life story as a Broadway musical for several years and I’m proud to announce we are finally developing ‘Hello, I’m Dolly – An Original Musical’ for the Broadway stage.”

When music lovers learned that Dolly’s life would be getting the Broadway musical treatment, they immediately were ecstatic on what’s to come.

“Omg!!!!! Freaking out!!!!!!” one person exclaimed in the comments. “The world needs this!!!😍🙌❤️,” another agreed. “I have never been into broadway or musicals but you can guarantee I would go and support this and probably LOVE it too!! You’re a LEGEND, (Mrs.) Dolly!” a different follower declared.

Despite details behind who will star in Hello, I’m Dolly being kept under wraps, fans already have one person close to the singer in mind for the starring role.

As fans know, Dolly Parton has a famous goddaughter — Grammy winner Miley Cyrus. Given how the two have a special relationship, some folks want Miley to play the titular role on Broadway.

“Nominating @mileycyrus to play young Dolly 🦋,” one person requested on Instagram. “Cast Miley Cyrus as Dolly we need her to get a Tony! ❤️,” another begged.

While we’ll have to wait and see if this dream comes true, Miley would be a great choice to step into Dolly’s shoes. The two have starred together on Hannah Montana and have performed a myriad of duets over the years. Plus, Miley covered Dolly’s smash hit “Jolene” back in 2012, and her version is one not easily forgotten.
