Lisa Bluder broke her silence about Caitlin Clark not making the Olympic basketball roster.

The basketball world was in a state of shock after it was revealed over the weekend that the most famous women’s player in the world was snubbed from the roster.

It’s truly one of the dumbest decisions we’ve seen in sports in a very long time. How do you leave off the one player guaranteed to generate interest and bring in fans?

It makes no sense at all, and Bluder has some thoughts on the situation.

Lisa Bluder reacts to Caitlin Clark Olympic snub.

“She’s represented USA Basketball many times. She’s won three gold medals. But we have to remember, it is the hardest team to make anywhere. It is the hardest team to make. And the 12 women that they have chosen are exceptional women. The only ‘but’ I have is: What about the future? Because this team has not lost a game since 1992. So, they’re a great group. They’re experienced. There’s no doubt we’re going to win another gold medal in Paris. But what about the fact that in four years we’re going to be playing in L.A.? How are we preparing for that? That would be my only ‘but,'” Bluder told the Washington Post

While the Indiana Fever rookie isn’t going to be at the games in Paris, Bluder does see a little upside to her former star player not being on the roster.

She’ll finally get some time to rest.

“I think it would have benefited Caitlin if she would have had another year of experience and maybe not be coming right off of her collegiate season where she’s pretty tired, as you can see in her play right [now]. Her body needs a rest. And the silver lining is that her body will get some rest during this break. And I think that’s what we have to focus on is the silver lining to this whole deal,” Bluder further told the Washington Post.

While Clark getting some rest after an unbelievably hectic few months is a positive, it still makes beyond zero sense that she’s not going to be in Paris. Leaving her off the Olympic roster is such a blown opportunity to shine a massive light on women’s basketball.

Ratings and attendance are booming for the WNBA right now, and there’s one reason why:
