When Jake Paul made his debut against Deji Olatunji in a white-collared boxing match in 2018, everybody thought it would be a one-off thing. Shockingly, six years later, the YouTuber-turned-boxer is 9-1, with six knockout wins in his professional boxing career.

But, his boxing record shows a common pattern. It has either been washed out MMA legends, or boxers way past their prime. The fact of the matter is when he had to face up against a boxer his age, he suffered a UD loss against Tommy Fury. But, ‘The Problem Child’ does have one thing that many seasoned fighters don’t- the ability to talk a good game. As a YouTuber with a good reach on social media, he brings eyeballs to the sport. Without a doubt, he can sell more pay-per-views than most seasoned fighters. Still doubtful? Can there be any other explanation as to why a 58-year-old Mike Tyson would want to face the ‘Problem Child’?

With the hopes of becoming a world champion one day, the problem-stirrer Jake Paul has also called out elite boxers like Ryan Garcia and undisputed Super Middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez. “Logan fought Floyd and I will fight Canelo and show the world why I’m the greatest sports story ever. See you soon Saul,” he had written on X once. Unfortunately, Canelo will not be entertaining the proposition. He still feels that he has a couple of good fights against seasoned professional fighters left in his gas tank. Nevertheless, it won’t stop Paul from throwing down the gauntlet against the best. What’s frustrating is that the fans are still waiting for his callouts to elite boxers to turn into an actual fight. In a recent interview with Viva La Stool, he did show signs of humility and named four boxers who he wouldn’t dare call out.

‘Problem Child’ feels fear, after all!

The former Disney star isn’t as fearless as he makes people feel on social media. In a recent interview, he did factor in some ground realities, and listed a couple of fighters he wouldn’t be facing shortly. Let’s start with the obvious fighters who would be ruled out because of the weight and size difference. “Some heavy weights, I wouldn’t agree to fight um maybe a Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua,” Jake Paul mentioned, understanding that the sheer height and weight advantage the opponents might have could prove detrimental for him.

Moving on to fighters much closer to his weight class, he has ruled out a showdown with skillful pressure fighters like David Benavidez and two-time undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk. But, one fighter who scares the daylight out of him is the current interim light-heavyweight champion David Benavidez. Waxing lyrical on his skillset as a boxer, Paul said, “David Benavidez is just that nonstop pressure coming forward. You can’t slow him down and he just throws bombs, switching stances. I mean that guy’s a menace that’s why he’s my favorite fighter.”

It isn’t surprising at all that he finds Benavidez scary. Otherwise, why does a fighter like Canelo Alvarez put an astronomical price tag of $200 million to fight Benavidez, a boxer who is his mandatory challenger? Maybe, the fear of not retiring as an undisputed champion does play a part. Who knows?

Meanwhile, as Jake Paul waits for his megafight on November 21 against Mike Tyson, he sees his upcoming fight against Mike Perry as his tuneup. The disrespect was quite evident as Jake Paul trash-talked Perry in another interview not too long ago.

Talking to Ariel Helwani, Jake Paul’s approach towards psychologically dismantling his opponent veered towards a disturbing sexual route. “I want to be entangled with you forever. I will hit you with a little reach-around brother if you want that,” Paul said, stunning the BKFC fighter.

“I am ready to go all the way. You say your hands are bi-s**ual, my hands are all type of s**ual. Tris**ual, bis**ual, as**ual, pans**ual,” Paul added, doubling down on the sexual undertone of the conversation.

It might be unsurprising to some that Jake Paul would be using shock-and-awe tactics to drum up interest for the fight. Being an influencer, he knows exactly what would catch people’s attention. It remains to be seen if Paul sticks to the weird s** talk theme in the upcoming press conference.
