There is a new update on Pat McAfee’s ESPN future after his comments on Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark

Major Update on Pat McAfee's ESPN Contract After Caitlin Clark Comments - Athlon Sports

Former NFL punter Pat McAfee had made a successful post-football career as an ESPN analyst. The host of his own show, McAfee also appears on ESPN’s “College GameDay” program. In a recent report, Andrew Marchand of The Athletic revealed that McAfee has yet to sign a new deal with “College GameDay” as the season quickly approaches.

McAfee recently went viral with controversial comments on Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark that had many calling for his job at ESPN, but the former NFL punter apologized, and there has been no indication that the network plans to discipline him for what was said.

Not long after these comments were made, The Ringer’s Bill Simmons questioned on his own podcast how long McAfee would be with ESPN, asking, “Over-under Pat McAfee still on ESPN. If I gave you February 2025, over-under?”

Speaking on his role at ESPN, Simmons added, “You need him for football season.”

With this new report circulating that McAfee’s “College GameDay” future is uncertain, speculation has only increased that his time at ESPN could be winding down. What has been missed by many, is that The Athletic added in their report, “McAfee has a separate contract that allows ESPN to license his daily ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on its network and YouTube.”

This is the show McAfee made his controversial Caitlin Clark comment on, so even if the former NFL player is unable to reach an agreement to continue his College Football work, it seems his own show will not be going anywhere.
