Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever suffered a brutal 89-84 loss to the Washington Mystics on Wednesday. Frustrations rose throughout the Fever roster despite entering the game winning two of their last three matchups—one of which was against the No. 1 New York Liberty.

One such frustration stemmed from a referee calling Clark for an offensive foul mid-play. A clip shared by ESPNW on Instagram shows Clark attempting to make space on a high ball screen from her teammate Aliyah Boston. The Fever rookie gave Mystics guard Ariel Atkins a slight nudge, which the referee deemed illegal and decided to blow the whistle on.

The seemingly aggravated rookie guard then walks to the referee who called the foul, telling her, “Don’t fall for that. No, you fell for that.”

Despite the loss, Clark finished the game with one of her best stat lines of the season, notching 29 points, 13 assists, and five rebounds.

Aside from Clark’s frustration, there were also major questions about Boston’s foul trouble throughout the game. The No. 1 pick from the 2023 WNBA draft ended the game with five fouls, recording six points and six rebounds.

The Fever ended the match with 21 fouls, reaching a deficit of as many as 22 points in the contest. They struggled on both ends of the floor, especially in the painted area, which is where Boston thrives.

Clark showed her irritation with the referee, which tends to happen when a team is struggling on the hardwood, but she was adamant that the offensive foul was a miscall.
