The WNBA game between the Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream at State Farm Arena on Friday night was not just a regular showdown featuring top rookie Caitlin Clark. It was a game that drew attention from all corners, thanks to the presence of Philadelphia 76ers legend and former NBA Most Valuable Player award winner, Allen Iverson.
The 2024 WNBA first overall pick Caitlin Clark, was the main attraction, and Iverson was there to witness her performance in person.
During a break in the third quarter of the Fever-Dream game, Iverson’s presence in the arena was recognized and he even blew the appreciative crowd a kiss.
Donning a sweet Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls jersey, Iverson must have liked how Clark played against the Dream.
Clark helped Indiana score a 91-79 road win with 16 points on 6/12 shooting from the field, four rebounds, seven assists, and a block in 35 minutes. Although Clark coughed the ball up seven times to add to her league-worst turnover total, she still posted a game-high plus-13.
Like Iverson, Clark’s arrival in the pro basketball realm brings phenomenal attention to her league. People can’t help but pay attention to her whenever the Fever plays.
Speaking of the Fever, they are now on a four-game undefeated streak and will look to extend that to five when they meet Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky on Sunday.
Meanwhile, here are some of the reactions online to Iverson’s presence at the Fever-Dream game.
“Real hoopers recognize real hoopers bro nothing to do with race.”
“Nba players respect her game…but wbna players claim she not good enough for Olympics…yeah ok.”
“Looks impressed”
“Greats recognize greats”
“They know she’s the new greatest wnba player, so they love to watch her play👑👑👑🔥🔥”
“All of that is amazing. AI. Watching the reason why the WNBA is on fire, wearing a MJ jersey.”
