The former Iowa guard, who starred for the Hawkeyes alongside Caitlin Clark, was only hoping to get drafted but was surprisingly selected by the Aces in the second round of this year’s WNBA Draft. She has given a great account of herself since joining the team, and it appears their gamble has paid off.
Martin is generally reserved but sparked fires on the web on Sunday night after sharing a mirror selfie showing her standing next to a smokeshow blonde with a curious emoji.

The other woman has since been identified as Claire Gransee, Kate’s former Iowa teammate who graduated this year.
Kate Martin Has Really Impressed Aces Head Coach Beck Hammond
As mentioned above, Kate Martin’s play has been excellent this season. It’s left head coach Becky Hammond feeling great about the team’s draft choice.
“She executed our schemes really well. She plays so hard. Her sense of urgency has really been there the whole time,” Hammon previously told reporters.
Martin is averaging 4.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game this season, shooting 34.7 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from three.
She will be in action with the Aces later this week, with the team scheduled to play the Chicago Sky on Thursday evening.
