Teenage Chinese women’s basketball player Zhang Ziyu is becoming quite a phenomenon at 17 as she’s proven unstoppable.

Zhang, touted as the tallest female basketball player of all time, stands at 7ft 3in and does not possess a slender frame that would allow opponents to push her around. She’s playing for China in the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup, and the competition simply has no answer for her.
The phrase “cheat code” gets thrown around a lot, but it isn’t used loosely when it comes to the Chinese sensation.
Zhang’s claim to the record of tallest female player hasn’t yet been confirmed. Margo Dydek, the tallest player in WNBA history, was 7ft 2in tall. Ziyu is already taller at 17.
Zhang Ziyu Is Having Her Way At The U18 Asia Cup
The Asia Cup is underway, having tipped off in Shenzhen on Monday night. China’s first game, Zhang Ziyu’s debut, was a blowout of Indonesia as they won 109-50. She shot a perfect 9-for-9 from the field, registering 19 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks.
She put in another impressive performance against New Zealand on Tuesday night – not sure how they’re in the Asia Cup – scoring 36 points and adding 13 rebounds and four blocks as China cruised to a 90-68 win.
The teen had 30 points before the third quarter was over.
While New Zealand’s players are taller than Indonesia’s, they still had no idea how to stop Zhang Ziyu, throwing everything at her to no avail.
You can bet WNBA teams are already monitoring the towering phenom. You might see her playing American basketball soon enough.sưt
