Chicago Sky player Chennedy Carter has quietly been one of the WNBA’s best guards this season.
Carter is averaging 16.3 points per game in her first season with Chicago. She also scored 33 points in 36 minutes played during Friday’s win over the Seattle Storm.
Yet, Carter’s claim to fame is her rivalry with Fever rookie Caitlin Clark. Ever since knocking Clark to the ground during a June 1 WNBA game, Carter has made multiple disparaging comments about the former Iowa Hawkeye.
This extra attention has brought some praise that WNBA legend Sue Bird had for Carter from a few seasons ago back to light.

When fellow legend Diana Taurasi asked Bird who the best player in the 2020 WNBA draft class could be, Bird said, “Chennedy Carter,” without hesitation.
“If Chennedy Carter gets her shit straight, I mean c’mon bro,” Bird added. “You couldn’t guard her.”
Bird then relayed a hilarious story about her being asked to guard Carter, and her being horrified at the prospect of having to do so.
This 2020 conversation between Taurasi and Bird was posted on X by @BascabyArmy on Sunday morning, and already has 150,000 views.
We wonder whether Bird believes Carter has indeed gotten her sh*t straight.
