Angel Reese received a Flagrant 1 after hitting Caitlin Clark in the head.

“Makes herself so unlikeable” – Angel Reese’s ‘special whistle’ comment after controversial Caitlin Clark foul has fans riled up

Angel Reese is adding fuel to the fire as she had an unnecessary foul on Caitlin Clark. During the matchup between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever, Reese hit Clark on the head which sent the guard on the floor. To make matters worse, Reese complained about the officiating after the game.

It seems like Angel Reese was bitter about her foul as she took a jibe at her opponents during the press conference. Without naming names, Reese was upset for not getting enough whistles.

I think we went up really strong a lot of times and we didn’t get a lot of calls. Going back and looking at the film I’ve seen a lot calls that weren’t made. I guess some people got a special whistle.

Angel Reese at the post-game presser

Reese’s foul on Caitlin Clark was upgraded to a Flagrant 1 after review. It seems like the star was referring to that officiating play as Clark was given two free throws. The Fever also ended up winning the game which must have upset Reese even more.

Reese’s answer was certainly not received well as fans were already upset by her foul. Committing an intentional foul and then complaining about it is not a good look for any athlete. Hence, Reese received a ton of backlash for her response in the press conference.

Fans were furious about Angel Reese’s jibe at Caitlin Clark

Reese has not had the best reputation even before the star joined the WNBA. The Sky’s forward is often painted as a villain for her hyper-competitive attitude and on-court antics. Hence, it was expected that the player would receive criticism for her actions towards Clark. But to make matters worse, Reese even complained about the whistles after the game.

Clark on the other hand, gave a classy reaction to the situation. Hence, complaining and giving an unsportsmanlike response despite the wrongdoing did not sit well with fans. Fans took to social media to react to Reese’s ‘special whistle’ jibe. Here’s what fans from X had to say.

Reese also did not have the best performance in the loss. Regardless of scoring a double-double Reese only scored eleven points as Clark scored 23. Reese’s contribution would have helped Chicago as the team only lost by eight points. This is Sky’s second consecutive loss against Fever.
