Rihanna has been slated as the new face of luxury brand Dior’s signature fragrance, J’Adore.
It would be a challenge to deny the eclectic nature of Rihanna, or even attempt to. Since the 2017 launch of Fenty Beauty, the cultural innovator has been catapulted to becoming the world’s richest musician. A master of brand ambassadorship, the fashionista has acquired a new catalyst position as the new face of the classic Dior fragrance, J’Adore.
The announcement was made by the luxury brand on Tuesday, with Women’s Wear Daily providing the exclusive statement.
“Being the new face of J’Adore is both an honor and a mission,” Rihanna conveyed in the statement. “This scent that I have known and loved for so long means so much to women. I am especially looking forward to joining this adventure and contributing to it through my world, my story, my roots, as well as my creativity and my own femininity.”
Rihanna’s historic appointment to the role comes after actress Charlize Theron’s 20-year tenure with the brand as the face of J’Adore. According to WWD, Theron has pivoted to becoming an ambassador for their jewelry and style sectors. The power move by the French brand coins the Fenty boss as the first Black woman and second act to sport the role.

“The unusual talent, audacity, and captivating beauty of this absolute star are the ideal embodiment of dazzling, powerful Dior femininity that transcends generations,” CEO of Parfums Christian Dior, Véronique Courtois expressed in the statement. “Her golden dream promises to be unique, reflecting a fragrance that is present for women and retains its radiance.”

“Parfums Christian Dior is truly delighted to welcome icon Rihanna, whose wide-ranging talents, remarkable beauty and universal appeal now embody the world of J’adore,” the French brand shared in their Instagram post, where the renowned singer is seen rocking a modern rendition of the notable Bar jacket that was designed by Christian Dior in 1947, as Vogue detailed.
“J’adore has been present for women all over the world,” the brand continued in the caption of the following Instagram post dedicated to the profound partnership. “ It is the perfume of a powerful, liberated, and independent woman, which resonates with Rihanna’s personal story, one she has made her own, wearing it as an emblem of audacity and seduction.”

Rihanna has been a first on several occasions for the global fashion house, and the parfum collaboration is not the first time she has served as a face of the brand. She was the brand ambassador of their 2015 Secret Garden campaign, becoming the first Black ambassador of Dior. The campaign, with its magnetic visuals, was shot by renowned photographer Stephen Klein, who will also take on the star’s visuals for the J’Adore campaign.
Several commenters under the brand’s Instagram post, likely members of Rihanna’s fan base known as the Navy, accurately speculated her appointment to the role. This speculation arose from a suggestive post by Dior, which told watchers to “stay tuned” as a “new queen” has entered their cipher. The post was made moments before the official announcement.

The new brand ambassadorship contributes to the “Diamonds” artists’ expansive executive summary. Fenty Beauty, the innovative makeup line that holds over 50 shades encompassed with pioneering formulations, has surpassed $600 million in annual sales. The launch of Fenty Beauty was accompanied by the launch of Fenty Skin.
Launched in 2018, her lingerie line, Savage X Fenty, stands at an estimated value of $3 Billion as of 2022. Adding on to the Fenty empire, announced earlier this month was the coming of Fenty Hair, where the tress maven will center hair repair solutions.
Rihanna’s appointment as the new face of J’Adore marks another significant milestone in her illustrious career, solidifying the iconic creative’s ongoing influence in the fashion and beauty world. With this historic role, Rihanna continues to break barriers and set new standards for brand ambassadorship.
The campaign is set to officially commence this fall on September 1.
