Katie Price has revealed the extent of her drug shame as she revealed what led to her “major breakdown”.

The former glamour model, 46, was rushed to hospital after crashing her car under the influence of drink and drugs in 2021. It resulted in her being banned from driving for two years and was handed a 16-week suspended jail sentence for drink-driving. In the same month, Katie checked into renowned rehab centre The Priory Clinic in a bid to tackle her drink and drug troubles.

She has now spoken candidly about that time in her life as she reflected on her struggles over the past few years. Katie shared: “I’ve been diagnosed with severe ADHD. I remember the doctor saying to me, because obviously he knew I’d done [cocaine]…I’m like, ‘I just go completely quiet and shut down’. He said, ‘That’s a major sign of someone with ADHD.”

In an appearance on Westlife singer Nicky Byrne’s new podcast, Nicky Byrne HQ, he asked her: “At one point you were the most famous person in Britain. How does it sit with you now?” Katie said: “In our industry, if I don’t turn up for work nobody can replace me. You sort of just get on with it and you don’t deal with what’s happened.

“It got to a point where I had a major breakdown, ended up in The Priory twice, five weeks at a time, and then I self medicated on coke.” The mum-of-five added: “I’ve been through so much and I’ve come out the other end.” Katie recently opened up on what led to her car crash.

She revealed she had some friends over on the night and wrote in her latest autobiography This Is Me: “One of them had some coke on them and, yes, I had a little bit of it, probably a couple of lines, it wasn’t even a lot. I had some alcohol too.” Katie said a call from her eldest daughter Princess, 17, made her get into the car.

“I could tell she was upset so I asked her what was wrong,” Katie said. “My daughter was ringing to tell me she wasn’t allowed to see me and my heart just broke.” She admitted she “wasn’t thinking straight” and added: “I needed to go right that minute and I didn’t care that it was 2am. I didn’t care about anything anymore.”

The mum-of-five first visited the private rehab clinic back in 2018 following a period of her life where she turned to cocaine to ‘block things out’. She was in the facility for 28 days. During one episode of her documentary series My Crazy Life, Katie explained that she had been using the substance when her head was “so numb” with stuff.

This week, Katie was spotted behind the wheel again. In new snaps, she could be seen looking calm and confident as she stepped out of her red car while on holiday in Cyprus. Last month, she revealed on social media that she was waiting for her drivers licence to be delivered to her so that she could get back behind the wheel.
