Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have been rivals going back to their high school AAU days.
Since the beginning of their years-long rivalry, these two women’s basketball superstars have faced off in several major matchups — including the 2023 NCAA Tournament National Championship game that saw Reese and the LSU Tigers take down Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
One year later, Clark and Reese’s college teams met for another NCAA Tournament matchup in the Elite Eight.
Before that game, Reese described Clark as a “killer.”
“She’s just a killer.” Reese said, via Iowa insider Blake Hornstein. “… She’s just a really smart player. She has a great mentality to get everyone involved, but also takes great shots and makes great shots.”
Clark and the Hawkeyes took down Reese and the Tigers 94-87 in that Elite Eight matchup.
Despite some perpetuating the idea that Clark and Reese are arch enemies, it’s clear that these two up-and-coming WNBA superstars share a great deal of mutual respect.
