The NBA season is now in the rearview mirror after the Boston Celtics secured their franchise’s 18th NBA Championship over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
Boston has spent the entire season looking like the NBA’s best team, and they closed the show out in spectacular fashion.
Game 5 on Monday was all but over after the first half, as it looked like the Mavericks had run out of steam after keeping the series alive in Game 4.
However, when one physical play occurred during the game, ESPN broadcaster Doris Burke decided to crack a Caitlin Clark joke.

Mavericks forward PJ Washington was called for a foul after getting tangled up with Kristaps Porzingis.
“If that were Caitlin Clark it might spark a debate for a week,” Burke said while a replay of the foul aired.
Fans were not feeling Burke’s joke.
“Can we just get Jeff Van Gundy back already for the NBA Finals ? Doris Burke is unlistenable,” one X user wrote in response.
“I can’t believe she said it. It was So uncalled for.” said another.
“not even close to the same play. doris burke is so stupid.” a third wrote.
