Emma Watson has been in the public eye for most of her life. Even non-Potterheads know she got her big break at just 10 years old when she was cast as Hermione in the Harry Potter film series. And with great fame comes great nosiness. Emma has managed to keep her private life pretty private, but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t clued the public in to a few of her boyfriends and relationships through the years. Here is Emma Watson’s dating history.
2008: Francis Boulle

Emma had a ~little thing~ with Made in Chelsea reality star Francis Boulle back in 2008. In October 2011 he claimed he’s the one who ended things, telling The Sun, “We had a bit of a thing a while back. But I have always been an ambitious person, and I want to achieve my own notoriety for what I’ve done. That’s why I chose not to pursue it any longer, because I didn’t want to be the boyfriend of some child actress.” (“Some child actress” is pretty rude!)
2008-2010: Jay Barrymore
After her relationship with Francis ended in 2008, Emma reportedly dated financier Jay Barrymore for two years. Jay lived in England, but Emma had moved to the United States for college at Brown University and the distance and timezone difference took a toll on their relationship.
“Emma and Jay were in trouble for months and with Emma at Brown University in America, the transatlantic gap proved too much for their relationship to survive,” a source told Daily Mail at the time.

Relationship rumors started swirling for Emma and her Perks of Being a Wallflower costar Johnny Simmons in 2011 after the two were spotted out getting lunch together, but Emma’s team actually denied the allegations and this romance rumor never materialized into anything.
2012-2013: Will Adamowicz

Emma (accidentally) went public with her fellow Oxford University classmate Will Adamowicz in April 2012 after pics of them kissing at Coachella surfaced. They dated a little over a year until summer 2013.
“Emma and Will separated last summer and are no longer in touch,” a source told People in January 2014.
2013-2014: Matt Janney

In 2013, Emma met Oxford University rugby star Matt Janney at a game and they reportedly hit it off immediately at an afterparty. The couple was together for a year before breaking up in December 2014.
“I felt really uncomfortable,” Emma told British Vogue of the breakup after the fact. “Even before my relationship ended, I went on a silent retreat, because I really wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself.”
2015-2017: William “Mack” Knight
Emma was in a super-private relationship with businessman William “Mack” Knight from October 2015 to November 2017 before they broke up. There’s still not much known about their relationship to this day!
2018: Chord Overstreet

Emma briefly dated Glee actor Chord Overstreet in 2018. They were seen leaving the Vanity Fair Oscars party together in March 2018, but by May the two were over.
“It was never going to be a long-term thing,” an insider told People about the relationship.
Three weeks after their breakup, the exes were photographed making out in Los Angeles, but their kiss must not have meant anything because they were not seen together publicly again.
2018-2019: Brendan Wallace
In October 2018, Emma was spotted kissing venture capitalist Brendan Wallace on a bae-cation in Mexico. Neither of them spoke to the press about their relationship, but in summer 2019, Emma confirmed to British Vogue that she was single.
2019: Cole Cook

Emma was linked with Alicia Keys’ brother Cole Cook in 2019 after they were seen at The Spotted Pig in New York City together, but they only went on one date.
In July 2023, Cole cleared the air about his rumored relationship with Emma on USA Today. “[We] definitely went out and had a date, but we never really went down that path,” he spilled.
2019-2021: Leo Robinton
Another kiss making headlines for Emma. Photos of her and businessman Leo Robinton surfaced in October 2019. Emma and Leo were seen together again in November 2020 going for a walk in London and again four months later at a grocery store in Los Angeles in March 2021.

In May 2021, Emma and Leo engagement rumors caught on in the tabloids, but Emma quickly shut them all down with a tweet: “Dear fans, Rumors about whether I’m engaged or not, or whether my career is ‘dormant or not’ are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue,” she wrote.

It’s unclear when Emma and Leo broke up, but by September 2021, Emma was seen with someone new….
2021-2022: Brandon Green

In September 2021, Emma began dating Brandon Green, the son of British fashion businessman Sir Phillip Green. The pair was seen on a helicopter ride in London, which predictably triggered relationship rumors. The rumors were given more substance in August 2022 when Brandon and Emma were photographed holding hands in Italy, a year after they were first linked. The Sun confirmed their breakup in May 2023.
2023: Ryan Walsh
As of June 2023, Emma is rumored to be dating American businessman Ryan Walsh (per The Sun), though neither she nor Ryan have confirmed this themselves. The two were photographed together in Italy, but not much else is known about their relatinoship.
