Bruno Mars is coming to the big screen with a new musical-themed film that he’s developing for Disney.

The 34 year old musician has signed a deal with Disney, after months of negotiations, according to Deadline.

While little is known about the plot, the project will largely be comprised of original music that Mars will create and perform for the film.

Mars made his big screen debut as a precocious seven year old in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas as Young Elvis, already well known for his Elvis impersonation.
While Mars continued to pursue a career in music, he did also lend his voice to the animated sequel Rio 2.

However, this will be Mars’ first big-screen role as an adult, though little is known about the role he will be playing.

The currently-untitled project was birthed through discussions between Mars and Walt Disney Studios production president Sean Bailey.

Mitchell Leib, the head of music for Walt Disney Studios, was also integral in the deal for this project.

Disney and Mars will now search for a writer-director to bring this project to life, coming just days after Disney shelled out a record sum for a Hamilton movie.

Disney plunked down a whopping $75 million for the worldwide rights to the Hamilton movie, believed to be the biggest price paid for a completed film, according to Deadline.
The film was already shot in 2016, just two weeks before the original cast left, and it’s believed to clock in at two hours and 40 minutes.

As for Mars, he has also hosted a 2012 episode of Saturday Night Live, where he also served as a musical guest to showcase his versatility as a performer.
