Taylor Swift’s relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce is the most talked about celebrity romance – but before them there was David and Victoria Beckham

David and Victoria Beckham know too well how hard having the eyes of the world on you is and the football legend has weighed in on the coverage of superstar singer Taylor Swift and her romance with NFL star Travis Kelce.

Becks and Posh Spice were the IT couple of the late 90s and early 2000s, with their every move captured, analysed, and scrutinised. The hit Netflix documentary “Beckham” presented the highs and lows of the ex-Manchester United star’s personal and professional life and Swift’s romance with Kelce is now getting the same treatment.

Ever since the pair went public last Sept. at a Kansas City Chiefs home game at Arrowhead against the Chicago Bears, all eyes have been on Swift and Kelce. It also took NFL fans time to warm to Swift’s regular appearances in plush boxes around NFL stadiums and the singer was sometimes subjected to negative comments.

Victoria Beckham suffered the same treatment but Becks believes Swift has thick enough skin to not let it get to her. Swift followed the Chiefs all the way to their Super Bowl LVIII win over the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas and she’ll likely be a regular in 2024 as Kansas City target a three-peat.

“Hopefully that’s improved,” Beckham told Variety on Swift receiving negative coverage. “It’s ridiculous that we’re even talking about it.

“I think back in the day with Victoria going to games, the fans were quite brutal. They sang songs about her. But I’m sure Taylor’s strong enough to handle whatever.”

Swift and Kelce have tried to keep their relationship as private as possible. The pair were getting to know each other before Swift turned up at Arrowhead last Sept.

We started hanging out right after that,” Swift revealed in an interview. “So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

Swift has also had to learn the sport having not been a big football fan before she started dating Kelce. A Super Bowl in her first season as Kelce’s girlfriend isn’t a bad way to start, though. “I’m having a blast in life, baby, just flying high, enjoying it all, bringing new lives to the football world,” Kelce said about his love life.

“I don’t know how I did it because she wasn’t into sports. So I don’t know how the —- I did it,” he added.
