LeBron James Relives Son Bronny’s NBA Draft as 39YO’s Ultimate Dream Keeps Him Awake Amid Lakers’ Free Agency Trouble

LeBron James has had a long NBA off-season. And the superstar still has a lot of tasks to do. While the much-awaited Bronny James’ draft is out of the way, the Lakers forward is working his magic to enhance the roster. In an attempt to win his 5th ring, the 39-year-old agreed to even sacrifice his salary to fund and surround himself with a top-quality veteran guard or a big man. Amid this hot pursuit, James took a moment out to feel his family’s once-in-a-lifetime wholesome moment.

He took to his X handle and wrote, “With the 55th in the 2024 NBA draft. The Los Angeles Lakers select……. Bronny James. Just had a moment!” Despite the noise surrounding the draft, the James family kept their thoughts under wraps and now King James finally took a moment to soak it all in. Even though the superstar is happy with the way his son’s draft went, he can’t and won’t rest until the Lakers build a better team.

So far, the Lakers have had a bad outing in the free agency market. According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, the league witnessed 23 free-agent deals worth $1.2 billion signed in 4.5 hours. However, none of them had any effect on the Lakers.

Notably, hours before the opening of the free agency market, LeBron James revealed the list of players that he wished to trade. James is looking for players around the caliber of James Harden, Klay Thompson, and Jonas Valančiūnas. Unfortunately, Jonas has already gone out of the options as he signed a 3-year deal with the Wizards.

And, Shams Charania reported that Harden could once again sign for the LA Clippers for a fresh 2-year deal. So, the Lakers have only Klay Thompson left. Moreover, it could also get difficult to trade him, considering the cap space in the Lakers’ salary book.

With his son around, can LeBron James win his 5th ring?

Looking at free agency drama, one might declare that the Lakers have no hope in the upcoming season. However, looking back at the already existing roster, the LA team sure does have a Championship roster, barring a few parts. JJ Redick himself, said, “I don’t look at the current roster as being that far off from a championship-caliber team,” during his introductory press conference.

Redick also stressed that he would focus on player development. And, several reports stated the 40-year-old coach has been actively involved in developing Austin Reaves as the 3rd star. Moreover, D’Angelo Russell also signed his player option and will continue with the Lakers.

The star coach also revealed his plans to focus on the team’s perimeter shooting. D’Lo‘s inclusion will definitely be a massive boost for JJ’s plan. Apart from that, the latest hire, Dalton Knecht, the rookie from Tennessee, will improve the Lakers beyond the arc too.

Last but not least, the team has two superstars on the roster, LeBron James and Anthony Davis. If the renewed perimeter shooting increases the floor spacing, then the LA side could turn into a lethal force. Above all, Bronny has the unsaid objective of shutting down his critics. We could likely see a different Lakers unit in the upcoming season.
