WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik Mysterio’s career paths have been tethered since their bitter split in the fall of 2022. The duo faced each other in a one-on-one contest at WrestleMania in 2023 and a tag team match in 2024, with the elder Mysterio on the winning side both times.

The two are booked for a one-on-one match in the upcoming episode of WWE RAW scheduled to emanate from TD Garden in Boston. This will be a sequel to their clash in Inglewood, California last year.

Naturally, this rivalry appears to be the most personal for The Master of 609. Taking to X/Twitter, Rey Mysterio sent a rare message directed at his son, reminding the latter that he embarrassed him at The Showcase of The Immortals last year using his belt.

Check out Rey’s message and a clip he shared from WrestleMania 39 below:

“Running it back tonight son…,” Rey Mysterio wrote.

During an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Emily Mae back in April this year, Rey Mysterio revealed a not-so-surprising opponent he has in mind for a retirement match.

Even the fanbase believes “Dirty” Dom is the man to retire his father, even though The Judgment Day member has yet to win a match against the WWE Hall of Famer.

The legendary luchador added that if it were to come down to a retirement match with his son, he would like for it to be a “Hair vs. Mask” match, staying true to his Luchador roots.

Rey Mysterio admires his son’s work since branching out with The Judgment Day in WWE

When Dominik Mysterio made his WWE debut opposite Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020, he was associating himself with Rey Mysterio.

The duo went on to become SmackDown Tag Team Champions before the involvement of Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland’s friendship with his father drove Dom to betray them and side with The Judgment Day.

While conversing with Chris Van Vliet recently, the luchador legend predicted a world championship reign in his son’s future. He also added that his son has managed to acquire the kind of knowledge he could not do in four years time.

The father-son duo’s recent issues stemmed from Rey’s involvement with the Latino World Order as the faction’s leader, who is currently embroiled in a feud with The Judgment Day. Dom shoved the elder Mysterio last week, inadvertently assisting Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan.

Liv Morgan and “Dirty” Dom have an ongoing storyline on WWE RAW which has become one of the show’s most significant angles. It appears Morgan won’t stop until she destroys The Judgment Day, whereby Rhea Ripley has nothing upon return from injury.
