International pop star Bruno Mars showed recently how much he loves not only singing but also helping others, especially children. When super typhoon Yolanda left many Filipino children orphaned in 2011, he was touched by their devastation and promised he would come back. And he did!

Bruno recently donated $100,000 (US Dollars) to help young survivors of Yolanda.

He presented the check recently to ABS-CBN Ling-kod Kapamilya Foundation’s Bantay Bata 163 at Solaire’s Eclipse Entertainment Lounge.

Bantay Bata 163 is a social welfare program of the ABS-CBN Foundation that was formed in 1997. It’s mission is to help protect disadvantaged and at-risk children by providing a nationwide network of social services, including a ‘163’ national hotline number people can use to report child neglect and abuse.

The foundation said the money was very much appreciated and would be put to good use for scholarships, medicine, food, “our post traumatic stress debriefing, child emergency care and our new disaster preparedness program for children,” states program director Dr. Luisa Puyat. As she explains it, “…we never know when the next calamity will happen.”
