The pro wrestling world cannot talk about the WWE Attitude Era without mentioning Trish Stratus, who helped change the landscape of the women’s division. Her aesthetic appeal defined her early career and captivated millions of fans, including Jerry “The King” Lawler.

The former broadcaster became infamous for screaming “puppies” at female wrestlers.

In an interview with Going Ringside, Jerry The King” Lawler was asked how close he was to Trish Stratus back in the day. The WWE Hall of Famer said he had no relationship with The Quintessential Diva despite throwing his controversial catchphrase at her on-screen:

“I really had no relationship with her. What you saw on TV was just what was going on. I was not around her that much. But I thought the world of her,” Lawler said

However, Lawler revealed that he and Stratus rode together a few times:

“A couple of times when she just started, she rode with me on a couple of trips. And she was fun to be around. She just went on to be big, big, big.” (H/T WrestlingInc)

Is Trish Stratus retired from the WWE in-ring competition?

Trish Stratus capped off her recent WWE run in 2023. The 7-time Women’s Champion turned heel to ignite a heated rivalry with Becky Lynch. The two women had a trilogy, which culminated in a steel cage match at the Payback Premium Live Event.

Stratus not only lost the match but also got attacked by her protege, Zoey Stark, signaling the end of their student-mentor relationship.

The Quintessential Diva recently confirmed that she hasn’t hung up her boots yet:

“Retirement? What is retirement? I’m not familiar with this word. I don’t know anything about this word. We just stay ready. That’s a general statement that we [Stratus and Lita] like to live by, just in case,” she said.

Stratus and Lita were rumored to return at WrestleMania XL, but the plans didn’t come to fruition. With Money in the Bank set to take place in her hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, it will be interesting to see if she will make a surprise appearance on the show.
