Phillip Schofield’s eldest daughter has shared a tribute to her late grandmother following her dad announcing the sad news on social media.

Former This Morning presenter Phillip took to Instagram on Monday night to inform his 2.7million followers that his beloved mother Pat Schofield had died earlier in the day. The dad-of-two, who recently made a TV comeback on Channel 5 series Cast Away, was clearly devastated as he mourned the loss of his mum online.

Sharing a series of touching snaps with his mum Pat, Phillip penned: “Today, at 3pm and after a heartbreaking weekend, my magnificent mum decided it was time to go to her beloved Brian. Over three days, we held her, loved her, hugged her and said everything that needed to be said. She was calm, peaceful, beautiful and dignified. I will forever be proud and privileged that she was my mum.”

He continued: “Our eternal thanks to the paramedics, Treliske AandE and Critical Care team who have been, in the past and this weekend, my mum’s and our angels. Your love and care has been our saviour.” The dad-of-two then shared more snaps of Pat and a video of the late mum-of-two wing-walking on a plane. “God I loved her for wanting to do this,” Phillip captioned the clip. “One of the oldest ever ladies to wing walk.

Shortly after Phillip’s announcement, the former Dancing On Ice host’s daughter Molly shared her own tribute to her paternal grandmother. Molly added a broken-heart emoji to dad Phillip’s original post on her Instagram Stories, before sharing a snap of herself and sister Ruby posing with Pat. “Love you so much Bo,” Molly wrote over the sweet snap, add one final request: “Give a huge kiss to Bri when you see him.”

Molly made an appearance the Channel 5 series Cast Away last month as her dad returned to our screens over a year on from his dramatic This Morning exit. His departure in May 2023 was simultaneous with his admission of an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a junior employee during his time on the ITV show.

He expressed regret for previously deceiving others about the affair and mentioned in his resignation note that the “consensual on-off relationship” had ended. The broadcaster, who came out publicly four years ago, has received unwavering support from his family amid the controversy. His immediate circle includes his daughters Molly, 31, and Ruby, 28, whom he fathered with Stephanie Lowe.

Both Molly and Ruby, alongside Stephanie, featured in the three episodes of Cast Away, with some footage taken at a barbecue organised in their home garden. Molly opened up about her relationship with her father during her time on screen and shared her hope the public warm to Phillip once again.

In one emotional revelation, Molly expressed: “When my dad came out it was very hard for me. It was very hard for the entire family. Mainly my mum, of course – everything was turned upside down. But we talked through it and [over time] it’s got easier.” Further adding to her heart-to-heart moments, she shared: “My mum and my sister, we’re all the same. We’ll always continue to support him, no matter what. I never thought it would have gone the way it has.”

Reflecting on her family bonds, Molly described herself as the “luckiest person” having her parents remain “best friends” despite the challenging times they faced. Molly also revealed during the series how their family ordeal has ironically brought them “closer”. She reflected: “We’ve seen him at his lowest times, but I’ve been so proud of him, and as a daughter to see the love that people had for him that when it’s taken away it’s just heartbreaking.” She also hinted at a desire for understanding and forgiveness, with Molly hoping for compassion from others: “I would love people to understand what’s actually happened.”
