Liam Payne suffered from a “psychotic episode” before his death, according to witnesses.

The late singer died aged 31 on October 16 after falling from the third floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aries, Argentina. Tragically, Liam was unable to be resuscitated by medical staff due to the catastrophic injuries he suffered due to the impact.

It’s believed that he fell from 14 meters, equating to 45 foot and suffered a cranial fracture and “extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death.” Prior to his death, Liam was said to have been acting aggressively at the hotel, with staff believing that he could have been under the effect of drink or drugs.

Now, witnesses close to the hotel have claimed that Liam had endured a “psychotic episode” in the moments leading up to his death. An office worker who was close to the Casa Sur hotel claimed that the on-site masseuse claimed Liam was acting erratically. Josefina, a One Direction fan told América TV: “I was working in an office next to the hotel when we started hearing lots of sirens and lots of noise.

“A colleague went down to see what was happening and was able to speak to the hotel masseuse who said there was a man being aggressive who was breaking things and was having what appeared to be a psychotic episode and looked like he was out of it on drugs. The colleague came back and told us that and a few minutes later we went to the bathroom which overlooks the inside of the hotel and we saw a red tent was up and we assumed it was covering a body.

“The tent was right by the swimming pool. That was the spot where he fell, right by the pool.” Now, an autopsy has shed light on his death and states his was consistent with a ten meter fall he suffered from the balcony of his room, located on the third floor of the Casa Sur hotel on Godoy Cruz Street. The report stated a toxicological and anatomical-pathological study of his blood and urine were being undertaken to determine whether there were any traces of drugs. Additionally, the musician’s medical history might be requested to analyse his mental health history.

They also confirmed that a white powder was discovered in the room, alongside medication including clonazepam and energy tablets. Liam’s personal notebook and his passport have been seized and handed to Prosecutor No. 16. His body was found in an internal patio of the hotel. The police were called to the hotel by the hotel manager.

Liam’s devastated family issued a statement after news of the singer’s tragic death, amid reports his mum Karen and dad Geoff have flown out to Argentina. “We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we’ll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul. We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time,” the statement read.
