Strictly Come Dancing fans spotted a ‘new curse’ after JB Gill ended up in the dreaded dance off on Sunday night.

JLS star JB and Amy Dowden found themselves in the bottom two with Paul Merson and his pro partner Karen Hauer.

After both couples had danced for a second time, the judges delivered their verdicts as Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke chose to save JB and Amy.

Eagle-eyed viewers were quick to spot a worrying curse they think explains why JB has found himself in the dance off.

Fans spotted the similarity between both JB and Shayne Ward, whom both performed first in the live show.

JB and Amy performed first ahead of their fellow couples more recently, whereas Shayne danced first in the previous week.

They also found themselves middle of the leaderboard, something judge Craig also picked up on.

Now fans have commented on the coincidence that both JB and Shayne faced the dance off after performing first.

On X, viewers penned: ‘Crazy how JB danced first last night and in the dance off, and Shayne ward danced first last week and too himself there. Going first is a curse lol,

‘Ooh thats a bit of a shock, but i think sometimes opening the show can put you in a risky position. Easy to forgot the first couple especially if they fall in the middle of the leaderboard’,

‘Going first is a proper curse this series’,

‘Voters with goldfish memories yet again. Two weeks in a row. The curse of first’.

When asked by host Tess Daly about their time on the show, Paul said: ‘It’s been really good. For anybody I talk to, I would say you’ve got to go on this show. It’s amazing – everybody.
