The WNBA made a big announcement after this Caitlin Clark vs. Angel Reese battle
The Indiana Fever picked up their 5th win of the WNBA season on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Chicago Sky by a final score of 91-83. It was a very well-played game on both sides, as the star rookie battle between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese did not disappoint.
Finishing with 23 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds, Clark led Indiana to their first winning streak of the season. Reese also played well, finishing with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists, despite being in some foul trouble.
This was a very highly anticipated matchup between Indiana and Chicago, as the basketball world was ready to see them face off again after their matchup earlier this season.
That game of course included Chennedy Carter’s controversial foul on Clark that sparked days of discussion, which only added to the intrigue surrounding this rematch.
In a major announcement on Tuesday morning, the WNBA revealed that this matchup was the league’s most watched game in 23 years:
This is incredible news, as it continues to show the impact Clark, Reese, and their respective teams are having on the WNBA’s growth.
Clark put this into great perspective after the game, saying even if people tune in to watch herself and Reese battle, they will have an opportunity to see their talented teammates who are also growing the game.
While there has been a lot of unhealthy discourse surrounding Clark and Reese, the two stars are growing the game together, and that is wonderful to see.
