Selena Gomez Spills the Beans: “One More Album, Then I’m Taking a Breather” đ´đ¤
In a candid interview on the latest episode of the SmartLess podcast, 31-year-old actress and singer Selena Gomez shared her plans to shift gears from music to acting, revealing a surprising twist in her career trajectory.
“I do feel like I have one more album in me, but I would probably choose acting,” Gomez confessed when quizzed about her dual passions.
Despite her unexpected journey into the music industry, she expressed a desire to step back, emphasizing, “I am going to want to chill because Iâm tired.
I wanted to be an actress; I never really intended on being a singer full-time, but apparently that hobby turned into something else.”
Gomez, known for her roles in “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Only Murders in the Building,” delved into the origins of her music career and the challenges of balancing singing and acting.
“I started having a lot of fun with music, and then touring was really fun,” she shared with podcast hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes. “But the older I get, the more I’m kind of like, I would like to find something to just settle on.”
The singer, who once considered herself not the “best singer,” highlighted her storytelling abilities and love for creating songs. However, she admitted a change in perspective over time, expressing a desire to streamline her focus.
Gomez’s honesty extended to the struggles she faced, including mental health issues stemming from overworking. “I went to a mental institute and canceled one of my tours,” she revealed. “It just got to me because I love working, and it distracts me from bad things.”
Opening up about her introduction to music during her Disney Channel days, particularly in “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Gomez acknowledged the industry’s demands.
“Disney is, itâs safe to say, a machine and, in a way, forcefully requires that I know how to sing so I could sing the theme song [of a show]. They know how to package someone and make it a whole triple threat thing,” she reflected.
As Gomez hints at a musical finale, fans are left eagerly anticipating her upcoming album while supporting her decision to prioritize well-being and pursue a new chapter in acting. đđ #SelenaGomez #MusicToActingJourney
